Engineering methodology

How a result is checked before it is published.

This page describes the calculation practice used on PowerEngineerLab. It does not add a company, a license, or a certification.

Model ownership

Each published calculator is a versioned model in this project. The model version is stored on the calculation record with the dataset version. PowerEngineerLab is the site name. No registered organization, professional credential, or named author is stated here, because none has been provided for publication.

Formula verification

A formula used by a tool is tied to a source id and to numerical checks in the repository. Teaching fixtures are arithmetic examples, not measured site data. Changing a formula, a unit, or an assumption requires a recorded source or a reproduced calculation check. This page does not itself change a formula.

Input validation

A result is computed only after the tool accepts the input. Empty fields, non-numeric text, values outside the stated domain, and non-finite results are rejected. Where a tool offers a unit, the selected unit is part of the input. Reset and example actions, where the tool has them, replace the draft; they do not bypass validation.

Reference management

A source record can store an id, a revision, a URL, an access date, and a license status. The public source list shows those fields and the title, institution, and section when the project register already has them. A URL that is not on the calculation record is labeled as a register URL or omitted. Clause and table numbers that were not opened stay labeled UNVERIFIED and are not turned into limits.

Limitations

Results are engineering estimates. Code compliance, protection coordination, manufacturer curves, installation approval, and site measurements stay outside a tool unless that tool says it evaluated them. A check marked not-evaluated is an explicit boundary, not a pass.

Revision policy

A published model version stays in place until a later change is checked and recorded. Corrections to wording, sources, or validation can ship without a formula change. Withdrawing a tool removes it from the published registry that drives the directory, the language pairs, and the sitemap.

Machine-readable index

The public llms.txt file lists the same published calculators, categories, teaching cases, and entry points. It is an index of this site, not an extra set of tools.
